This beautiful dish with a round shape is made of Pyrex glass and its stand is made of woven rattan flower.
Unlike wicker which has only one fibre, rattan is composed of a pith made up of a set of fibres forming a very hard grain.
It is this heart of fibres that is used in the making of our rattan items. A rattan basket will therefore be much more resistant than a wicker basket.
Even more resistant, the rattan flower is the very heart of the rattan fibre. It is the finest and most resistant part of the pith that is used. To make it even more reliable, it is covered with a food-safe varnish and is washable with water.

You can clean rattan using a sponge or a soft brush soaked in warm water and a few drops of washing-up liquid. Always use a soft cloth or a soft brush to avoid damaging the material. Drying is very important, otherwise the rattan may become mouldy.
