Brass is an alloy that oxidises naturally in the air over time, and therefore a thin layer of verdigris appears which can be easily removed with ready-to-use products that you can find in shops, but there are also some old wives' tales that you can try with everyday products: in a container, dilute 1 litre of hot water, 2 to 3 tablespoons of black soap and 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda. Dip a soft sponge in it and rub the surface of the brass object. Then rinse the object with water and dry it with a clean cloth.
